Chime Floor Clocks Give A Soothing Musical Quality To Your Dwelling Or Workplace

Chime clocks are not, by far, the latest kind of design-though there are more modern clocks labeled as chime clocks which have just lately been designed. The chime clock is a classic and provides a calming musical addition to your home or workplace. I have searched out a few different kinds of chime clocks and here are a few designs that I have found:

There are mantel chime clocks which can be used as a mantelpiece, on top of a shelf, on a small or on a decorative table. Chime clocks are generally made from stained pine wood and, if they are well-maintained, will probably be with you for long after buying.

A few chime clocks are the larger type, such as floor chime clocks to be set on the floor. They generally stand about six feet and some have pendulums. There are more sophisticated designs developing for these floor clocks in which the pendulum is not only a hanging ball, but perhaps in the shape of an arrowhead or a swirl. I have even seen some mantel chime clocks which had a straight pendulum on them. Nothing at the end--only a straight, heavy, metal clinging piece.

Other larger, floor chime clocks do not have pendulums, a few of these chime clocks require a certain amount of winding which operates sort of like window blinds. With these chime clocks, you pull the chain so that the clinging pieces (which suspend but they are not pendulums) end up at the top of the clock--directly under the clock. The chains are lowered slowly as the clock maintains the time and last for around twelve hours before they need winding again. Some come with small pendulums that get behind the chains--but most of them do not.

Most chime clocks cannot be obtained in ordinary shops, but should be looked for at specialty clock stores.

Many chime clocks are wall pieces ranging widely in configuration. The wood is stained sometimes--but chime clocks may be found painted, also. There are various shades and styles--a few would go perfect in the kitchen, some in the bedroom or living room, some in the study and chime clocks may also give a classy and somewhat stylish look to your workplace.

Most chime clocks, however, are crafted from stained wood, some arching at the top, others flat on both top and bottom with a subtle design on the sides. A few are long and slender, while others are smaller and broad--there are several variations. Regardless of what you do and what your preferences are, you must be able to find a chime clock would compliment your house or office.
