My sister and I designed a baby shower party for 1 of our nieces. We made the decision to have it in the fellowship area of the local church because of the fact that it was a large guest list. We had the shower on a Saturday afternoon. We didn't want to get too detailed with the baby shower decorations because of the fact that we had to have the entire area cleaned out immediately after the party. We did want to have a few decorations for baby shower to give the room a festive feel. There is a bassinet that is passed to every new mother for the baby to sleep in for the first 4 to 6 weeks. This cradle was my mother's. We determined that we would use the bassinet as the center of our baby shower party decorations.
The fellowship area has big round tables that seat ten folks. We moved 1 table off by itself to be the presents table. We covered this table with a smooth pink tablecloth; our niece knows she is having a girl. We set the cradle in the middle of the table. We made the decision to use our presents for the baby shower party decorations. I had obtained a pink and white infant blanket, which we hung over the side of the cradle. We pinned a number of rattles and other baby toys to the blanket with diaper pins. We then displayed the little ensembles that my sister had purchased. We finished the baby shower party decorations for the presents table by putting a big stuffed bear into the bassinet. It is so much fun to decorating for a baby shower!
For the buffet table we had an array of fresh-cut flowers from the neighborhood florist. She used silky pink carnations, baby's breathe and daisies for the display. We determined that no other baby shower decorations needed to be put on this table. We did have pink napkins that we set on this table, together with a cake that was ornamented with a stork holding a tiny doll in a pink frosting blanket.
We had also gotten a corsage for our niece and 1 for every of the new grandmothers to be. We felt that the room looked very nice and we would not have to spend plenty of time cleaning up baby shower party decorations because of the fact that they would all be sent home as presents to our niece.
We had a big turn out for the baby shower. My niece received several very nice presents. She was glad that we had the shower in a space that was not small. As she progresses with the pregnancy she is feeling more claustrophobic. Within 30 minutes after the baby shower party was over the fellowship section was cleaned up and we were on our way home.
